C TEST TRAINING DAY - 23 SEPTEMBER 2007

Hosted by the Beaufort MFC

Despite the blustery conditions the second Western Area 'C Test Training Day' was held on Sunday 23rd September 2007, kindly hosted by the Beaufort MFC at their Winterbourne site, near Bristol

The Beaufort MFC are to be congratulated on their very professional organisation and their well prepared facility.

The event was very well attended attracting members from the Southern and South West Areas as well as Peter Spurway from the Achievements Scheme Review Committee

After a morning of demonstration flying and discussion of all matters relating to the C Test the hosting club laid on a feast of burgers and hotdogs to appease the ravenous hoards.

Will Sturgess prepares his YT International 'Adrenaline' for flight with help from his 'caller' Mark. Despite deteriorating weather and high winds Will gave a demonstration of all C Test maneuvers in the morning and went on to take and pass the test later in the day.

For those techno freaks amongst us the plane was powered by a YS 110 and Will flew with a JR PCM10X.

The concentration required to fly the maneuvers can be clearly seen on the face of the pilot while the Western Area Achievement Scheme Coordinator shields his face from the wind in order to keep his cigarette alight.

Thanks go to the Beaufort MFC for their hard work on the day and for hosting the event, to Will Sturgess for braving the strong winds to demonstrate the test, to Peter Spurway for his usual support and encouragement and to the Western Area Committee for their kind support.

Following on from the success of the meeting the Western Area are planning to hold a similar meeting next year so if any club wishes to become involved they should initially contact the Western Area Secretary.
